Christmas in Gods Country is our annual holiday shopping event. Vendors set up booths in downtown Hondo to sell artisan crafts, homemade beauty supplies, snacks and fried food, and a wide array of handmade items that make amazing Christmas gifts. Come stop by to get your holiday shopping done while also supporting local businesses!
About the 2020 Event
The Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce is super excited to announce we are moving forward with Christmas In God's Country! Due to complications with Covid-19, we have worked with the City of Hondo to come up with a plan that will help the holiday shopping run smoothly and safely. This means Christmas In God's Country will be a bit different than what occurred in previous years. With that being said, we at the Chamber are confident and excited to provide the City of Hondo and the Medina County area with this holiday event.
Previously, Christmas In God's Country has taken place around the Courthouse located on Avenue M. This has worked well in previous years but 2020 has been the year of adapting and reinventing! So we've adapted and reinvented. This has brought us to our new and updated Christmas In God’s Country.
Christmas In God's Country has now been adjusted to a citywide shopping event (at least for 2020). Vendors will be dispersed throughout the town in multiple locations, with each location hosting 3 – 6 vendors. These vendors include artisan craft shops, boutiques, homemade beauty supplies, baked and fried foods, restaurants, and other holiday gift items. This will allow people safely social distance and avoid overcrowding.
To help shoppers find these locations, the Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce will be providing maps marked with each shop location. The map will provide you with a clear route that makes for a great holiday cruise while you get your Christmas shopping done, all while supporting local businesses!
